Motorcycle Theory Test

We can help you pass the test the first time

If you want to ride a motorcycle/scooter without L plates, you will need to pass the theory test before booking the practical test. The motorcycle theory test consists of two parts, the multiple choice part and the hazard perception part. Both parts of the test will be taken on the same day for your convenience. You must book your driving theory test well in advance. To receive a test certificate, you need to pass both the tests.

Twickenham Motorcycle Training offers a variety of motorcycle courses catering to everyone's riding ability. Our team of experienced DVSA motorcycle trainers will assist you with becoming a confident rider, at very competitive price. From beginner sessions to motorcycle test preparation, we have got a course to suit you.

“Chris was an absolutely brilliant instructor. He could not have been any better. I would definitely recommend Twickenham Motorcycle Training over anywhere else. Big thanks to Chris for being such a great instructor.

The theory test has two parts

Multiple choice test
You have plenty of time, nearly an hour and you will need to score at least 43 out of 50.

Hazard perception
You will watch 14 short video clips. When you see a hazard starting to develop, click the mouse, as simple as that. You need to get 44 answers correct out of 75 to pass the test.

I passed module 1 with no faults yesterday. It is entirely due to the excellent tuition I received from Chris. The have great humour and are very knowledge. I would and will be recommending them to all who need CBT or any other training.

Module 1 is the off road test

In this test you need to demonstrate to the examiner that you can ride the motorcycle or scooter with a degree of confidence and a good level of control. We have the actual test set up with speed cameras and same size and colour cones.

Our driving instructors will explain and walk you around the module 1 course. We will also demonstrate and ride around the course so you can see exactly what to do. Once the instructor has demonstrated the test, you will try the same until you get it right.

Module 1 is an off road test riding around cones, either a left hand or right hand circuit at a MPTC.
“I passed my module 1 first time and module 2 first time. I could not have done it without the great guys at Twickenham Motorcycle Training. My instructor was called Jim he made me so relaxed and calm. He gave me the positive attitude that I will pass no matter what. I have already passed you guys onto my mates as, I was so impressed. Just want to thank Jim again for his help, true legend top bloke.

- Karl

Module 2 is the on road test

The second part of the test is about 45 minutes long. In this test, you will be followed and observed by a DVSA examiner. Once you clear this test, you would not need your L plates.

We will train you up to a better level than is required to pass your test. Our instructors will talk you through the possible on-road scenarios. This is to ensure if anything out of the norm happens on test, you will be able to handle it with confidence.

If you have any questions or queries take a look at our FAQs page or get in touch with one of our instructors.

I am just done my Mod 2, Jim and Chris took all the stress out of learning and made the experience an enjoyable one. There is always a laugh to be had, but most importantly they ensure you gain the skills and confidence you need. Thanks guys”.
